A trip to Sweden with my folks to see their old friend (my godmother) from when they lived there — my mum’s been back since, but my dad hadn’t, so this was the first time in decades that he’d been. A lovely time was had by all, so I was pretty pleased with suggesting/organizing the trip.

Easily the best thing that happened to me in 2018 was meeting my partner. (I love you, bug!)

i mean we’ve known each other for a while and arguably our ~relationship started~ riiiiiight at the end of 2017 but it definitely feels like a 2018 thing

knitting and watching a (slightly better!) film on a Tuesday night.

tonight’s entertainment: kubo and the two strings. i have also watched paris burning about which i have many thoughts and also feelings but i’m a tired bean so those are being shelved for now

ahhhh knitting and watching a terrible Christmas film on a Friday night

the holiday is the film in question and while i love Arthur so much of the writing is so bad! and the performances match the writing oh and by the way filmmakers: having an old Jewish man express admiration for Hugo Boss’s suit-making abilities when Hugo Boss literally designed uniforms FOR NAZIS seems like a BIT OF A MIS-STEP no?

(further) small achievements while home sick over the weekend:

baked (dense, flavourful, wholemeal) bread
made mint syrup
started setting up December break catchups with friends I haven’t gotten to see in years
left! the! house! to go to the shop
picked up a languishing knitting project again
washed all the dishes (baking tray excepted), starting the week with sink zero, yay!

small achievements for a day off sick:

washed up the past few days’ (also spent off sick) worth of dirty dishes
made hot chocolate mix
made hazelnut milk hot chocolate with aforementioned mix*
ate some food
cleared half the sofa so when my friend came round for a cuppa she had somewhere to sit
sat mostly upright(!) in an armchair(!) for an hour(!) while hanging out with aforementioned friend

*SO GOOD I cannot stress enough how good hazelnut milk is in hot chocolate
